Christ-Centered Community Church (C4 Tampa)
Christ-Centered Community Church (C4) was born from a church separation. On March 14, 2022, the congregation of Bell Shoals Palm River was informed they could no longer operate as a church under the Bell Shoals Brandon campus. Dr. Yves Johnson was asked to stay on and lead the remnants of the church. Through God’s grace and mercy, Palm River was able to celebrate her 95th Anniversary prior to departing the building that cherished so many fond memories. She was blessed to hold her last service the following week. Pastor Johnson preached on “We’re Better Together.”
C4 had one problem. Where will she meet? One member suggested meeting in Winston Park. Similar to a spark in a wildfire, the theme “Church without a Building” emerged. Truthfully, the body talked about being a church without a building two weeks prior. However, the immediacy and gravity of the situation seemed to solidify the members as a body of believers. The catchphrase, “Church without a Building” motivated the body of believers to band together and show “God’s righteousness” through all of her travails.
The church met in Winston Park from April 3, 2022 to September 1st, 2022. Pastor Valerie Goddard of Keeny Methodist Church reached out to us and made available a place for us to meet that was away from the elements. We enjoyed church services and fellowship in one of their rooms for three weeks. However, we were called to be out in the public square. We remained there for several more weeks. The church continued to grow spiritually despite meeting at Winston Park during the high humidity, heat, and inclement weather.
Pastor Norberto Torres of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal met with Pastor Johnson and the leadership team. Both parties agreed to work together and worship in the same facility. C4 graciously accepted the offer and, has been meeting there since September 4th.
C4 has partnered with a number of churches to pray over two schools and prayed with and for numerous staff members and teachers. They have also partnered with El Bethel and helped provide weekly meals to those in need throughout the area.
C4, in her short history, has weathered numerous storms. She has followed the mantra, “His Will not Our Way” since reestablishing as a church. Our rally cry is, “Many hands lighten the load.” As such, nearly half of the members are helping in one form or another in ministering to each other weekly. We saw a strong surge of volunteerism after spending several weeks discussing “I will be an imitator of Christ” and “Spiritual Gifts.” The members saw where God wanted them to work in their calling and it was and is a beautiful thing.
We haven’t fully become the people God has called us to be…yet. Come join us. We’re a body of imperfect men and women who are seeking to live a Christ-centered life to glorify God. We realize our Christian walk isn’t linear. Rather it’s a “Squiggly straight line." We’re determined to follow His Will not our way and “Press toward the High Calling of Christ.” As stated earlier, Pastor Johnson preached on “We’re Better Together.” As we continue to grow spiritually, this message remains true and strengthens our church body.
